Fraud Alert

Last updated: September 2026

Your safety matters to us. Please read this page carefully — it explains how to spot fake job offers and fraudulent recruiters, and what HireSetu will and will never ask of you.

HireSetu Will Never Ask You To:

  • Pay any fee, "registration charge," "security deposit," or "training fee" to apply for or accept a job;
  • Share your bank account password, ATM PIN, OTP, or full card details;
  • Make a payment through a personal UPI ID, QR code, or personal bank account to "confirm" a job offer;
  • Pay to receive a job offer letter, interview call, or onboarding kit.

If anyone asks you for money in HireSetu's name, it is a scam. Do not pay. Report it to us immediately.

Common Job Scams to Watch For

  • Fake job offers: Unrealistic salaries for minimal work, offered without a real interview, often via WhatsApp or personal phone numbers.
  • Advance fee fraud: Being asked to pay for "registration," a "security deposit," a laptop/kit, or training material before you start work.
  • Phishing messages: Emails or SMS that look like they're from HireSetu but link to a different domain, asking you to "verify" your account by entering banking details.
  • Fake recruiter profiles: Individuals claiming to represent a well-known company, contacting you outside the Platform, and pressuring you to act quickly.
  • Work-from-home data entry / packaging scams: Offers requiring an upfront "joining fee" for vague data-entry, packaging, or typing work.

How to Verify a Genuine HireSetu Communication

  • Official HireSetu emails come only from @hiresetu.online addresses.
  • Employers on our Platform go through a verification process (business registration document review) before their jobs go live. A verified badge on a company profile means we have reviewed their submitted documents — it does not guarantee every representation the Employer makes, so continue to use judgment.
  • We will never contact you asking for money, OTPs, or banking passwords, under any circumstance.

What to Do If You Suspect Fraud

  1. Do not pay any amount, no matter how small, or share any OTP/banking credentials.
  2. Stop communicating with the suspicious party.
  3. Report it to us at support@hiresetu.online with as much detail as possible (job listing link, company name, screenshots, phone numbers used).
  4. Report to the authorities: you can also file a complaint at the Government of India's National Cyber Crime Reporting Portal, cybercrime.gov.in, or call the Cyber Crime Helpline at 1930.

Our Commitment

We verify every Employer's business registration documents before their job listings go live, and we investigate every fraud report we receive — removing listings and accounts that violate our Terms & Conditions or Trust & Safety standards. See our verification process for more detail.

That said, no verification process can catch every bad actor. Please stay alert, trust your instincts, and never send money in connection with a job application.
